Course Description
This accredited Grinders Operator (Angle Grinder) Safety Training course provides learners with the knowledge and practical skills required to safely operate angle grinders and related grinding equipment in the workplace.
The training focuses on identifying grinder hazards, selecting correct discs, applying safe operating techniques, controlling grinder speed, complying with hot work requirements, and implementing effective hazard controls. Learners will be equipped to operate grinders safely, prevent injuries, and comply with workplace safety requirements and applicable legislation.
Course Content / Outline
Hazards associated with angle grinder use and potential consequences of unsafe operation
Understanding angle grinder equipment, limitations, and correct operating techniques
Selection and correct use of grinder discs (grit, diamond, wire, and wood discs)
Matching grinder speed to different materials and checking wheel speed compatibility
Safe operating procedures, PPE requirements, and protective clothing
Pre-use inspections, pre-start checks, and common-sense safety practices
Safe grinding techniques for different materials, including stone
Do’s and don’ts for grinder operators and unsafe practices to avoid
Identification of risks, hazard controls, and implementation of control measures
