Course Description

This accredited course aims to provide learners with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to respond effectively to fire emergencies in the workplace. The training covers fire prevention principles, correct response procedures, and the safe use of firefighting and emergency equipment. Learners will be equipped to fight containable fires, retreat safely when required, and hand over incidents to appropriate emergency personnel to enhance survival and reduce damage during fire emergencies.


Course Outline

  • Legal and workplace requirements for fire safety

  • Procedures for dealing with fires

  • Fire chemistry, types of fire, and fire classifications

  • Selection of appropriate firefighting procedures

  • Identifying, selecting, and checking firefighting and safety equipment

  • Fighting containable and extinguishable fires

  • Procedures for retreating safely from a fire site

  • Fire handover procedures to appropriate personnel

  • Reporting and recording the status of fires and firefighting equipment


Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, learners will be able to:

  • Explain procedures for dealing with workplace fires

  • Identify different types of fires and select appropriate firefighting methods

  • Inspect and use firefighting equipment correctly

  • Safely fight containable fires

  • Retreat safely when conditions become unsafe

  • Hand over fire incidents to emergency personnel

  • Report and record fire incidents and equipment status
